(TMP_MAX): Remove; no longer needed.
(TEMPORARIES): New macro.
(__gen_tempname): Use TEMPORARIES rather than TMP_MAX. This
removes an artificial limitation (e.g. HP-UX 10.20, where
TMP_MAX is 17576).
